Like every year, the ina seniors from herzogenaurach decorated the easter fountain this year as well. "This year marks the 15th anniversary of our decoration campaign. Mal", explains werner david of the ina senior citizens.
In 1999, the fountain was decorated for the first time, on the initiative of city and ina seniors. David looks back to the beginning: "back then, the city seniors took a bus trip to french-speaking switzerland, where there are many beautifully decorated easter fountains. Naturally, there was a desire to have something like this in herzogenaurach, too." So david took the project in hand and talked to trainers at the ina apprentice workshop, whereupon apprentices made a base frame for the easter fountain.
"We got down on our knees and made it simple", david continues. He meets with five to six people every year to decorate the fountain and makes sure that every egg is in the right place. "Unfortunately, we can’t use real, blown-out eggs because they break too easily. From the beginning we used plastic eggs", explains the easter fountain specialist.
After almost exactly one hour, every egg is in the right place. Whether orange, blue, red or yellow – when you look at them, you find a rainbow of colors. Some eggs have been lovingly hand-painted with small flowers with great care. "Our painter heinrich loos is busy every year throughout the winter and paints all the eggs alone", emphasizes david. A special feature of this year’s fountain are the coarse eggs, of which about 40 can be found all over the fountain.
For every inn or cafe there has been a separate egg for the last two years. "Decorating the easter fountain is always for us, because it is a community action . When you see how much joy people have at the decorated fountain, it’s great", david is pleased.
Just in time for the opening of the easter market by first mayor german hacker (SPD) the fountain was already finished and all present were surprised by the bright sunshine. "I am glad that we do not have to stand here in the snow today", says hacker. He refers to an eventful weekend with numerous exhibitors and activities at the easter market and also mentions the city fair "bauen-wohnen-renovieren" ("build-live-renovate") in this context and the fairtrade certification for herzogenaurach, which will take place this weekend.
Afterwards, classes 1b and 4c of the herzogenaurach elementary school set the mood for the easter season with music and sang a few songs together. Fabian bartel from class 1b even recited a spring poem. It will be a nice weekend.

Step towards the preservation of the “jewish school

Step towards the preservation of the

The market council has set the course for the preservation of the property at nurnberger strabe 12. It is a baroque farmhouse, which, as a former "israelite religious school", is a testimony to the is of great importance for the history of the village. After a partially controversial discussion, it was decided by a vote of 14 to 8 to seek a retransfer and use of the property. For decades, the house and its back building were owned by the market town of hirschaid, which had bought it from the israelite religious community in 1939. It served at the beginning of the 20th century. At the beginning of the 20th century, the school was used as an elementary school for the children of the jewish population of hirsschaid; until the 1930s, however, only religious instruction was given. The last jewish residents of the house were the religious teacher david kahn, his wife cerry, and their daughter frieda, born in 1931. They were deported in 1942 because of the national socialist racial laws. They perished in one of the extermination camps in the east.
In 1983, the property became an object of exchange in connection with the relocation of mobel neubert: the buttel family of farmers made farmland available for the neubert construction project. In addition to financial compensation, they received the land directly adjacent to their farm with the "jewish school," which was already in danger of decay. When the buttel family wanted to demolish the main building on nurnberger strabe and replace it with a new building, it was subsequently added to the list of historical monuments. Since then it has fallen into disrepair. A renewed attempt by the still-owner to use the property for his farm successor brought movement to the land issue in the previous year. Since with this very special house history a demolition cannot really be considered, it is now about the preservation and the future use of the building. Some people in hirschaid are of course also discussing a brutal solution.

A suitable future for the property is made possible by the buttel family agreeing to a retransfer of ownership. The value of the real estate is now to be determined by the appraisal committee of the district of bamberg.

Reading makes life easier

Reading makes life easier

Theresa schiffl "in the first grade, we have children who only recognize letters, who read individual words, and then there are also some who can already read", explains gudrun mackert, principal of ivo hennemann elementary school. But most of them learn that very quickly, says mackert.

"Children learn so much in their first months, it’s really fascinating! And also the interest in teaching and reading is just there." In the basic lessons, there are reading, writing and arithmetic exercises that last about 20 minutes, during which the children also work with great concentration. "Sometimes it’s longer, depending on. We have to pick up the children where they are at the moment." This is also very important when learning to read.

According to current studies, it happens again and again that schoolchildren are not yet able to read even in the sixth grade. This refers to elementary school students at the end of the fifth grade. However, according to another finding of the studies, these children often lack access to a school library. Fortunately, this is not an issue in rodental near coburg, as the final event of the "summer vacation reading club 2018" showed in the city library showed: 119 girls and boys borrowed 1555 books from the rodental city library during the rough vacations, read them and filled out an evaluation card for each book borrowed. The children were automatically entered into a draw for a "pit lane ticket" for the "carrera world and a ticket to the "geiselwind" amusement park part.

Every child who read more than three books received a certificate and was able to choose one of the many gifts donated by 18 companies in rodental. During the 42 days off school, three girls were particularly persistent: winner lena karsch read and rated a book almost every day. Her mother said that the books were even taken to the beach on vacation, where they were more important for lena than refreshment in the sea. 40 books lena karsch had taken in during the 42 days as reading fodder. Maresa brejschka and lotte derooj each had 27 books to choose from during the summer holidays.

Aiwanger wonders about the railroad in forchheim

"We are still fighting for the construction of the "forchheim-nord" commuter rail stop, according to a press release, thorsten glauber (), member of the state parliament forchheim, described the situation "the bavarian state government must finally order this stop, otherwise we will never get it."

The connection of the entire district of forchheim-north with its school center is of great importance for the city. Aiwanger emphasized that the parliamentary group in the state parliament supports this concern. It’s not just the delays in building barrier-free access to the platforms at the forchheim train station that are causing the headaches. In kersbach, too, some questions have not yet been clarified. "In the meantime, however, I assume that our suggestion regarding the location of the commuter parking lot and the track accesses will be adopted by the DB planners.", rainer thieme, spokesman for the kersbach citizens’ initiative "lebenswertes forchheim" (worth living in forchheim), explained.
