B 22: new bridges to be ready this year

For a couple of weeks, traffic participants snaking through the twists and turns of the temporary bypass near monchsambach were able to watch two old bridges disappear more and more every day. Currently, heavy construction equipment is again in use on the rough construction site at the middle ebrach and flood basin. The yellow bridges built in 1875 and 1892 are being replaced by modern ones. And for this, twelve piers must be brought up to 20 meters into the ground. That’s why there’s an excavator weighing over 100 tons on site, where it’s probably causing a bit of a stir.
One year only one lane of traffic
The old bridges were getting on in years and in their last months of use for about a year only one lane was passable for safety reasons. Which had been regulated by traffic lights and repeatedly slowed down vehicles.
