When Help Is Needed

When Help Is Needed

Sometimes we need help whether it is a program for young people with a drinking problem or options for parents looking for day care coverage. Many teens need jobs or want an opportunity to volunteer their help to others.

Volunteering

Transportation

Car traffic is an increasing frustration for everyone working or playing on the East End. There are alternatives.

Transportation - Biking

Maps to bike paths and trails are available at all the bike shops. (See SPORTS). If you arrive at the beach by bike there are plenty of bike stands and no beach fees or permits required.

Transportation - Buses

Transportation - Ferries

Schedules vary with the seasons, so call ahead.

Transportation - Taxis

There are often taxis at the railroad stations to meet trains. The Yellow Pages list twenty taxicab companies you can call. A few are listed to get you started.

Transportation - Trains

LIRR (Long Island Railroad) is the one and only train.  Schedules are posted at each railroad station.  Copies are distributed on the trains and at the Municipal Building in Sag Harbor.  The number of trains traveling "up Island" and to NYC increases in the summer.
